Days Sales in Accounts Receivable

Home » CMA Glossary Term » Ratios and Performance Metrics » Days Sales in Accounts Receivable

Days Sales in Accounts Receivable (DSO) is a financial metric that quantifies the average number of days it takes a company to collect payment after a sale has been made. It is calculated by dividing the accounts receivable by the total credit sales and multiplying by the number of days in the period. A lower DSO indicates efficient collection processes. This term is commonly referred to as “day sales in AR.”
