Equity Method Goodwill refers to the excess of the cost of an investment over the investor’s share of the net fair value of the investee’s identifiable assets and liabilities, recognized when applying the equity method of accounting. This intangible asset reflects the premium paid for anticipated future economic benefits. Equity method goodwill is not separately tested for impairment but is considered within the overall investment.
