Discounted Notes Receivable refers to the process of selling or transferring a promissory note to a financial institution at a value less than its face amount before its maturity date. The difference between the note’s face value and the discounted amount is known as the discount on notes receivable. This transaction provides immediate cash flow to the holder but at a cost of reduced total receivable value.
