Non-value Added

Home » CMA Glossary Term » Cost Accounting » Non-value Added

Non-value added refers to activities or processes within a business that do not directly contribute to customer satisfaction or the company’s profitability. These activities, often identified in cost accounting, consume resources without adding value to the final product or service. Eliminating or reducing nonvalue added activities can enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs. Common examples include excessive movement, waiting times, and overproduction.
