Junk Bonds

Home » CMA Glossary Term » Corporate Finance » Junk Bonds

Junk bonds are high-yield, high-risk debt securities issued by companies with lower credit ratings. These bonds offer higher interest rates to compensate for the increased risk of default. Often used by companies seeking capital for growth or restructuring, junk bonds are speculative investments. They are also known as non-investment grade bonds. Investors should assess the issuer’s financial health before investing.
