Last in, First out (LIFO) is an inventory valuation method where the most recently acquired items are the first to be used or sold. This approach assumes that the last inventory items purchased are the first to leave the inventory, impacting cost of goods sold and ending inventory valuation. LIFO can affect financial statements and tax liabilities, especially in inflationary periods.
