Once you’ve passed both exam parts, met the education and experience requirements, and been formally awarded the credential by the IMA, you can place “CMA” after your name — on your business card, email signature, LinkedIn profile, resume, and professional correspondence. The standard format is “Jane Smith, CMA” or “John Doe, MBA, CMA.” If you hold multiple credentials, the CMA is typically listed alongside others (CPA, CFA, CGMA) in the order you earned them or by alphabetical convention. You must remain an active IMA member in good standing and complete your annual CPE to keep using the designation. Misusing the credential — claiming it without certifying, or using it when inactive — is a violation of IMA ethics standards.
