What is the CMA Handbook and why is it important?

The CMA Handbook is the official document published by the ICMA containing all the rules, policies, and procedures governing the CMA program. It covers exam content, scoring, eligibility, registration, scheduling, rescheduling, fees, code of conduct, exam security, work experience verification, and maintenance requirements after you certify. Every candidate should read it cover to cover at least once before they register. It answers a huge number of “what if” questions: what if I fail, what if I need to reschedule, what counts as work experience, what’s prohibited at the testing center. The IMA updates it periodically, so always download the latest version from the IMA website rather than relying on an old PDF.
