What is a scaled score in the context of the CMA exam?

A scaled score is the number the IMA reports after taking your raw exam performance and adjusting it for the difficulty of the specific exam form you took. Different exam versions have slightly different question sets, and not every question is equally hard. To make results fair across all candidates and all testing windows, your raw score gets converted to a scale of 0–500. That way, a 360 on one exam form means the same thing as a 360 on another. You won’t see a raw score breakdown publicly — what you’ll see in your Performance Report is your scaled score and a breakdown by content area. A 360 or higher is a pass.
